Why I Joined Wealthy Affiliate In the First Place
I joined The Wealthy Affiliate in the middle of 2015.
Initially, I was attracted to the fact that I could host all my websites here, as my hosting provider was having lots of issues with my websites not loading up properly and quickly.
I was also battling to remember all my WordPress passwords. It was a mission for me to find my password book every time I needed to log into my accounts.
I started reading reviews on the internet and when I saw all the happy reviews about Wealthy Affiliate, I decided to try them for myself.
At the time I was doing a mixture of auto blogging and manual blogging on my websites with varying degrees of success. Some months I would make a little, some a lot, and other times nothing. It was never consistent.
I needed to do more training on how to build a sustainable and consistant income but couldn’t find anything decent online that I hadn’t already tried.
Now, thanks to the great training at Wealthy Affiliate, my websites, and my income are growing from strength to strength month by month and year by year.
I decided to join The Wealthy Affiliate university initially as a free member to test the waters. On joining I was given the opportunity to start 2 free websites (at that time), which I could host on their platform for as long as I liked.
Now if you join you will only be allowed one free website, as the hosting has improved so much since then and they are trying to keep the costs down for their existing members.
I started with the free training and it was fun building a new website off of their platform on WordPress. It was so quick and easy compared to the way I was used to building websites and I learned so much from the initial training that I didn’t know before.
When the course available to free members came to an end I was really quite disappointed.
I decided to take advantage of their 7-day special offer where you get the first month for only $19.
From then on I was hooked. I spent a few weeks building out and improving on my existing websites while logging into the Wealthy Affiliate Training each day.
This is one of the websites I built using their training, but my real passion is Dancing, so my main focus then was on Dancers Forum.
After three years of building out sites, my most successful sites are Knitting For Profit and Cockatiels As Pets. Who would have thought?
After the first month at Wealthy Affiliate, if you decide to upgrade, it costs $49 per month, which was about $20 more than I was paying for my hosting at the time.
I, therefore, decided to go for the yearly plan, as it saved me $18 per month, and thus I was getting out of this world hosting and brilliant training for only $2 extra per month.
Of course then Black Friday rolled around and the price went down to $299.00 per year, so that was a no-brainer as an extra $59 was saved per year. I now pay what I was paying before when I hosted elsewhere, but now with all the great benefits that you see below.
Needless to say, I now host all my websites and domains on Wealthy Affiliate.
As a premium member, you can host up to 10 websites on their platform.

Black Friday
Every year that I have been here, Wealthy Affiliate offers a Black Friday Special.
This year it is once again $299 for the year, which saves you more than half your membership if you are a pro member. I took this deal on the first year I was here and I have never had to pay more than $299 a year for this awesome service.
The special runs for the Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of the Black Friday Weekend, and then it is cut off for another year.

Affiliate Networks
This is the latest initiative from Wealthy Affiliate and I think it is going to be hugely successful within the Wealthy Affiliate Community. It has just been launched which is why I felt I had to update this post.
Having this tool on the platform allows members to search for good Affiliate Networks to partner up within whichever niche they so choose. Before this, we had to do a Google search to find someone, and then we weren’t even sure if they were a good match to partner up with.
This will also allow us to follow and organize all our affiliate networks on one platform, which again saves a whole bunch of time and allows us to work on the more important parts of our businesses.

Affiliate Program Of Its Own
It appears that the best income opportunity within the Wealthy Affiliate platform is to market the affiliate program offered by Wealthy Affiliate.
The platform teaches affiliate marketing. Therefore, it only makes sense for it to also have in place an affiliate program for both paid and free members to sign up so they can earn some money by referring other people to the university.
This is by no means a pyramid scheme, as you only earn money on your direct referrals, but the best thing here is that you get recurring commissions as long as your referrals remain paying members.

Are There Cons To Joining Wealthy Affiliate?
Here are a couple of the cons I have found and I will keep adding to the list as I find more:

It can be quite overwhelming for newbies, especially if you don’t have experience with WordPress, but hang in there and go through the lessons in order one at a time. Luckily you can ask questions if you get stuck.

It will take a few months before you see sales start to come in, and most people want to throw in the towel too soon. If you work consistently and follow the training, the earnings will come.

There are some plugins that you won’t be able to use if you host your site with Wealthy Affiliate. One of them is Jet Pack.

It is too easy to get sucked in chatting to the community (it’s like FaceBook) and then you are neglecting to work on your website if this happens too often.

As a free member you cannot host your own Domain, and you only get the first ten lessons. You can, however, remain a free member for as long as you like, but you will only be able to host your website on the SiteRubix platform for six months.
Update:
A year ago Wealthy Affiliate introduced the Premium Plus membership, and I have now decided to upgrade, as it doesn’t make any sense not to now that my online business is growing from strength to strength.

It’s really great to hear about your own personal experiences with Wealthy Affiliate. Because with many reviews on other affiliate training programs, some affiliates seem to have no real experiences with what they’re recommending.
Looking at both Wealthy Affiliate membership options, they do offer great value. $47 a month is an absolute bargain for Premium membership, especially when you get all the resources, training and help you need for building an internet based biz from the ground upwards.
With many training programs, the prices are way too high for such poor quality training and tools.

First of all, I must commend you on a very well written review of Wealthy Affiliate. 🙂 I can’t believe you joined Wealthy Affiliate in the same year as me in 2015 after I graduated from College with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. I almost wanted to call it quits when I couldn’t find the perfect WordPress Theme I could use to build my website. It took me about 1 year of my time to go through their well laid out Training to figure out how to understand the difference between Widgets and Menus. Another thing that is very great about Wealthy Affiliate is that there is a supportive and highly responsive community of members available that can help lead you in the right path to success online. I try my best to answer any Private Messages I get from online newbies as well as to help reply to those in the Live Chat too, that is if I can remember how I managed my website on my own to help them find the right video tutorial that can help them figure out which WordPress Plugin would work well on their website too.
All in all, I am so happy to hear your background story at Wealthy Affiliate and you enjoy being there as much as I do. 🙂

I’m a member of Wealthy Affiliate for only a month, but I understand why so much praise to say. Although I have done online work for more than ten years, the Wealthy Affiliate I have for this month learned more than I could have imagined.
I launched three new sites, learned a lot about content and SEO writing. Much of the science of courses gives WA, and even more from the experience of other people who are there to help.

I could see from the first lesson that I was doing everything wrong.
I was one of those guys who say on the forums that you do not need a program or do not pay for a training.
Anyway, I could not do it by myself and I am very happy with the help I found at WA.

I think the main thing that stands out about Wealthy Affiliate is they immediately tell you of the amazing possibilities but then are honest enough to ground you and let you know, hey listen, this is what CAN happen if you apply yourself but it’s going to take TIME and WORK from your end.
Other programs promise the world and immediate, fast results and from experience, none of those programs even come close because WA teach you how to fish.
I haven’t come across a platform, that’s so well put together in terms of resources and help when you need it.
So keeping expectations realistic is something they do very well.

Great review! I like how you included Wealthy Affiliate’s history. It’s neat how WA started out so small and now it’s one of the most popular programs online.
I also started as a free member. I probably wouldn’t have joined at all if WA didn’t offer a free membership and required my credit card information to sign up. I had never seen any program that didn’t require my credit card information, even for a free membership. That’s what set WA apart from other programs. I liked that I could try everything out before putting any money down.
WA has everything you need in one place. It’s a unique opportunity.

Good question Mick. This training works for both newbies and experienced markets. The videos are step by step and you can work towards your goals as you learn.

What a great website. You make a very good point about being able to host all of your websites from one location. I chuckled when you stated it was a battle to remember your logins to your website. I was having the same trouble until I moved all of my sites to Wealthy Affiliate. Their dashboard makes it so easy to navigate from one website to another.

Hi, this is a fair review of Wealthy Affiliate, I am an insider, a member of WA, so I am able to judge the text. You rightly point yearly premium membership, I did the same, this saves around $200 per year. In the graph you added which shows premium and free membership features, there is an item about unlimited websites. This was perhaps earlier, presently it is 25. Support at WA is indeed one of the best things as you point it out.
So thank you, it was interesting to see WA from your perspective. One comment: the picture on the top opens slowly at my side, perhaps my connection is slow, but you might also check its size, keep it far below 200 kB.

It’s by no means a get rich quick scheme and if you’re willing to put some time and effort in WA training and apply the knowledge you can build a successful online business and quit your regular job over time. I’m close to achieving my goal and recommend this program to everyone.

I found your review of Wealthy Affiliate very comprehensive, easy to read, and easy to understand. I joined for the same reasons you did, namely being able to host all my sites in one area. Trying to remember all my different WordPress passwords was literally driving me nuts. Now it’s a breeze to log in to whichever site I need to.
I didn’t know WA started out as a keyword platform. That was interesting to learn. I also love using Site Content, which is another big perk for me, as is the community support. And, of course, the training is exceptional, and what other platform gives all the advantages that WA offers at an affordable price?! Simply awesome!

You can join as a free member for as long as you like, and use their website hosting and training to get your business off the ground.
The only drawback is you won’t have access to the community to help you succeed or further training if you want more after the first beginners course.
It was a very good review of Wealthy Affiliate. I think that the Community at Wealthy Affiliate is the key to your success. They are some of the most helpful people that I have found. The SSL certificates addition was a very good thing to add. Security is all the rage these days. Have you been successful so far using their products?

Reading your detailed review, it’s clear why it’s the number one platform for newbies and beginners. At the Premium fee, the whole package is more than a good deal.
It’s a pity that people from my country (India) cannot join it as a free Starter Member. That is such a bummer because people mostly would like to have a free trial or a money-back offer to have a look into the actual platform before signing up for it. The reason given was the many fraud cases coming out from India and some other countries.

Wealthy Affiliate definitely sounds like a great community and it really is a one stop shop for someone looking to get into blogging as a business. There seems like there are plenty of people willing to help you on your exciting journey into Affiliate Marketing, resources for hosting your website and a wealth of knowledge at your finger tips.
What advice do you have for someone who is afraid they won’t pick the right niche for their website? What if the person is afraid that the topic they are passionate about or have a wealth of knowledge for is hard to rank for? Any advice for someone who is thinking about affiliate marketing but not quite sure it is for them or it will be something they are good at?
I don’t think there is a right and a wrong niche, as long as there are people in the world interested in what you have to offer and enough of them who are interested in your topic.
The other thing is to make sure you have items that you can promote and sell within the niche that you choose. If there aren’t tangible products, then it is unlikely you will make any money in the long run.
If you love writing and you are passionate about sharing your knowledge with others, then it’s a no brainer. Blogging is for you.
I have been using Wealthy Affiliate for almost six months now and whatever you have listed in your post is so relevant and true for me. When I started with Wealthy Affiliate I had no knowledge in affiliate marketing but now I know so much I have my own website up and running.
