The Benefits of WordPress For Blogging

Let’s look at some of the benefits of WordPress for use as a platform for your website or blog. With WordPress the possibilities are endless.

If you run a website or blog, especially if it is a business or for an offline business, you should really look at using WordPress. This platform is one of the greatest blogging platforms that you can use and there are a great many benefits of WordPress for your business or as your blogging platform.

Yes, there is a learning curve, as I found out, but with the right education and some time on your hands, it is easy to master.

The Benefits Of WordPress For All Your Business Needs

Although there are hundreds of reasons and benefits of WordPress for your site, here are six great reasons why you should be using WordPress that stand out the most to me:

benefits of using WordPress

1. WordPress Doesn’t Cost Anything

Even though WordPress is one of the most capable scripts you can use, it is completely free to use. The license allows you to use it as often as you want on as many sites as you want, without ever paying a dime. And if you want to modify it to do something it can’t already, you can even do that!

Note that there are two versions of WordPress – WordPress.org and WordPress.com

WordPress.org is free but has limitations. Using this platform is best suited for personal blogs.

WordPress.com is also free, but you will need to purchase hosting and a domain name.

I use Wealthy Affiliate as my hosting company and to purchase my domains. You can run up to two free websites using Wealthy Affiliate and they help you to set up your WordPress Blog in a couple of easy steps. In less than five minutes your website will be ready to go.

2.  Thousands Of Great WordPress Plugins Available

The secret behind the amazing power of WordPress is plugins. With these easy to install add-ons, you can quickly add almost any functionality to your site, even if you don’t know anything about coding.

If you are a coding expert and you find that a plugin doesn’t exist that does what you need, you can also easily write your own.

Plugins allow your site to do hundreds of things and here are a few examples:

  • Automatically put related posts at the bottom of your post to keep your visitors interested for longer.
  • Speed up the loading time of your site.
  • Allow users of your site to share your posts on social media.
  • Send sitemaps to Google and other search engines.
  • As a backup tool.
  • As an easy way to place ads in specific places on your site.
  • To monitor the SEO health of your site.

These are just a few, and they are easy to download and install onto your site.

However, much as we love to have all sorts of plugins on our sites, don’t go overboard, as plugins can cause your site speed to be affected. The more plugins you have, the slower your site will load up. Remember that Google hates sites that don’t load up quickly.

3. Thousands Of Themes

If you look on any search engine you will certainly find no shortage of sites that offer WordPress themes for download.

While some of the best themes cost money, there is no shortage of freely available themes that also look great. Just like plugins, themes can be installed in just a few clicks.

You are able to change the whole look of your site in a matter of seconds.

4. WordPress is Highly Customizable

WordPress is such a great platform because you can completely customize it to fit your needs.

Almost anything you need can be changed using the online administrator. If there is anything else that needs changing it can be done by editing the source files of the system.

Of course, you will need to know how to code to do this, but luckily for most of us, we can get by with the use of plugins and widgets.

5.  Search Engine Power

One of the most important goals of any site is to get organic traffic, and the key to that traffic is often search engines.

Due to how WordPress is designed, search engines love sites that are built on this platform. WordPress sites often rank higher and faster than other types of sites.

And to improve this power, even more, there are dozens of plugins as mentioned above, designed specifically to help improve your rankings.

If you want to learn how to get more organic traffic, it is necessary to do keyword research before writing each and every post. Click here to see my keyword tool of choice.

6.   Hosts Love WordPress Too

WordPress doesn’t have any crazy server requirements.  It can run on just about any server, as long as it runs PHP and MySQL.

To take full advantage of the software, there are a few more things you want to be on the lookout for in a prospective WordPress hosting company.

Look for a host that has experience with WordPress, in case you run into any problems, so they can help and support you when you need it.

You would normally have to pay a hosting company to host a WordPress site, but if you would like a taste of building a blog the easy way on WordPress, try THIS SITE.  You can build your own WordPress blog and keep it hosted for free for as long as you like.

  1. Hi Michel,

I have only recently started with Wealthy Affiliate and affiliate marketing. Very soon I will start my blog writing. I chose my niche in health tips. Is it okay?

I do not have sufficient knowledge of WordPress. From your post, I gather good knowledge of it. You explained the benefits of WordPress for all of my business needs. It is amazing that WordPress is highly customizable. I will use this for my WA business.

    Thanks, dude 😉.

    • All the best with your health tips niche. If you do your keyword research, your niche should do very well as this is a very popular subject and people are always looking for more information on this topic.

  2. Ever since the existence of WordPress more than 15 years ago, it has been working unrelentingly in trying to make its platform to provide the best experience among others.

WordPress support many platforms that operate in creating content. When I created my website, I was able to choose the theme I love and customize it to the best I can offer.

I was able to do that without having full knowledge about how to create a website. I only played around it and it worked for me. This means WordPress is beginner friendly. This is a very useful article that provides me with reminders of why I still use this platform.

    • You are so right Stella, and I think a lot of people feel the way that you do about WordPress.

  3. Thanks for this article… it seems that there are so many options out there now for blog platforms. Appreciate you breaking down what really does work about WordPress.

I think it’s awesome that it’s free and that you truly can build a great looking site for free as you grow with it. One thing I’ve noticed that really helps is the amount of help that’s there if you get stuck. Makes such a difference to have support close at hand to get through the learning curves.

I wonder what the proportion of sites built online now are done with WordPress… it seems the possibilities to create with it are virtually unlimited and the tools just seem to be getting better all the time. Thanks again!

    • I am not quite sure on those statistics Judy, but I think there are more WordPress users than any of the other platforms combined.

  4. Thanks for this informative post about wordpress. I have always known WordPress to be reliable and yes their plugins are so useful especially if one does not have experience with coding. As a website owner, I also love the fact that WordPress has a lot of beautiful themes one can choose from. Thanks again for an informative and educational post.

  5. Even if there are more and more existing content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, it still doesn’t get defeated. We already have Joomla, Drupal, Weebly, Wix, among others out there. Yet, people still prefer WordPress despite the complexity.

Albeit the complexity of WordPress, like you said, there are tons of benefits you get which are essential in creating content for the site. Besides, I tried every CMS over the years and nothing compares WordPress either.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s very important to know, especially for beginner bloggers, that WordPress remains the powerful CMS through the years. Take it from me, I’m a blogger for 5 years now. 🙂

  6. I am certainly a WordPress fan, as I use it for three websites that I’m building.  I have two more domain names that will become websites eventually, and of course, WordPress will be where they are built.

Not only is WordPress free, but they update to a better version regularly.

Plugins are amazing.  I notice you also mention widgets, but did not go into any detail.  What is the basic difference between them?  Do use of widgets also slow down your site speed?

Thanks for doing this review.  I do believe WordPress to be one amazing, wonderful platform.

    • I also love that WordPress regularly update their platform, and this also helps to keep hackers off your site.

Widgets are what people see on your website in the sidebars or on the headers and footers, and as far as I know, widgets don’t slow your site down as much as plugins do, but again I wouldn’t overdo it.

  7. Hi Michel,

After a lot of searching for an honest, easy, affordable way to start an online business, I finally found Wealthy Affiliate. It seemed too good to be true. But I joined almost a year ago and have never regretted my decision. The training and support are amazing! My website was up and running in no time, and I am continually learning, thanks to other bloggers who share personal experiences related to their website creation. The community is welcoming; people genuinely want others to succeed.

The benefits of WordPress for blogging are, indeed, endless! As a WordPress user, I keep finding new ways to enhance my own website–customizing is quick and easy to do. There is a theme for any/every niche. And WP is free!!

Your website is a fantastic place to visit for sound advice! I loved reading posts in your “Bonus tips for every day” and
“build your own website” categories. Very useful information!

    Thanks for sharing

    Tamara
