When you make that awesome (and sometimes scary) decision that you are finally going to break free by starting your own online business, you have to make sure that from the start you set yourself up for success.
I would just like to share these tips with you before you go ahead and sign up with the wrong sort of online opportunity or online partner. When looking to make an extra income or even a total career change into the world of internet marketing, it can be overwhelming.
Here is what I wish somebody had told me when I started out so that I could have chosen the right system for me from the beginning, instead of wasting precious time jumping from one opportunity to the other.
What To Look For In A Partner When Starting Your Own Online Business
Is There Training?
Most important when signing up with any company online, if you have had little experience with online marketing, make sure the business that you join has an education system in place. There should be detailed training available to help you to promote their products or get you started so that you are not left floundering in the dark.
There should also be a good support system in place, as from time to time you are going to run into problems, and you will need help to get out of it.
There is nothing worse than joining up with a company or online opportunity that promises you the world, and then being left to drown on your own.
You will need daily support, motivation and a sound education when starting an online business. These are essential elements if you want to succeed with any automated online business.
The training shouldn’t be left up to your sponsor, but rather to the top income earners and owners of the company for maximum results when starting your own online business.
Is The Company Well Known And Will Their Products Sell Easily?
Secondly, as most of us have little or limited direct selling experience, or are simply no good at it, does the company have a system in place that sells your prospects for you?
It is no good getting millions of prospects interested in your product if you don’t know how to sell it to them. A good automated online business should have a follow up for your applications, as well as excellent sales letters and websites to turn your prospect into happy clients.
Another important point before joining an online opportunity is to check what product line the company is marketing.
Be prepared to battle if trying to sell more beauty products or vitamins, because the market is already over saturated, and you are going to have to work extremely hard to get your profits.
The company that you join up with should have a unique product that is much in demand, and that is quite difficult for anybody else to copy. The products should be of high value and great quality, so that you are able to make a good profit off of a couple of sales, rather than trying to sell hundreds of items to earn the same income.
It is also a good idea to see if you can make a recurring income. In this way, you do the work once and then get paid over and over again from the same prospect.
Setting Yourself Up For Success
You need to allocate yourself a space in your home that will be only for work. If you have an office, that’s great, because you can shut the door at the end of the day. If you don’t, you will have to set up a corner in your lounge or bedroom. You must make sure that there is enough light for you to work day or night. Make sure that you have a decent sized desk to work on, along with a comfortable chair. The desk should have some storage space, either on top or in the form of draws, and the chair should be one that supports your back properly.
You will obviously need a computer with a high-speed internet connection. I am in love with my iMac as seen in the picture below. This is a must, in this day and age if you want to stay on top of things and be successful in your business. You should be able to adjust your chair so that you can see your computer screen at eye level so that you don’t strain your neck and back.
When you purchase your computer you will see that they are now a lot smaller than they used to be, so they don’t take up as much space. The tower should fit neatly under your desk. The iMac (pictured here) doesn’t have a tower which is great if you are needing the extra space.Make sure that you have quite a lot of hard disk space to store your information, or if not a CD writer so that you can store on CD.
The monitors today are a flat screen, so they won’t take up a lot of your workspace, which is great. A lot of people nowadays prefer to work on laptops, like the one below, because they can take them everywhere. It all depends on you; the only problem with this is that you then tend to take your work on holiday with you.
You will also need a filling cabinet to store your documents in an orderly fashion.
It is a good idea to have an in and outbox on your desk and to empty these regularly and keep yourself organized. An organized desk creates space for an organized mind.
One of the most important things you will need is a diary. The ones that have a page a day are great and even better those that plan your day to the hour for you. This is a very important step to staying on top of things. Each afternoon before you leave your desk for the day you should review your day and write in your deadlines for the following day.
Tick things off as they are done and you will feel a sense of achievement at the end of each day. The most successful people plan their days down to the last minute and are highly organized. Believe it or not, this one works.
Give Yourself Time
Just like any offline business, when starting your own online business, you are going to have to put a lot of work in, and unlike some guru’s tell you, no you won’t make money overnight and become rich.
How much income you earn is entirely dependant on how much work you put in. But it is entirely possible to start seeing a profit in a couple of months if you work hard. Part time you will need to give yourself a bit more time.
