There are many part time online jobs for college students at home. The opportunities that exist today for college students online are many.
Here are a few of the best online jobs for college students that are low cost to start up.
Best Online Jobs For College Students At Home
There are many of these available, and a lot of them are free to join which makes them perfect part time online jobs for college students and the best part is that most of them are low cost. Some of these types of opportunities will require you to work hard to find a downline, but it shouldn’t be a problem, as most students know a lot of people who are trying to earn an extra income.
My personal favourite work from home online business model is Affiliate Marketing, as it involves building yourself a website on any subject matter of your choice and as it grows, so does your online business. This type of business is not only fun to build, as you can make it around a topic that you enjoy, but it can also be quite lucrative over time.
On the website that you build out, you can make money in the following ways:
Affiliate Marketing:
Affiliate Marketing is a great way to make some extra cash in your spare time. All you need to do is promote other peoples products, and each time you make a sale, you get a commission.
The best way to do this on your website is to write reviews and help people with problems that they might have. You can refer them to products you think will help them, and if they buy one of these products you will get a commission.
The best part about this model of making extra income is that you never have to carry stock or worse, ship it out to your customers. It is all done for you by the companies you are promoting for.
Many companies are looking for affiliates to promote their goods, as online is the way that many people are shopping nowadays. No matter what your website is about, you will always find companies who have affiliate programs that you can lock into.
If you want to see how I make money doing affiliate marketing, and grab some free training at the same time, you can read about the platform I use by clicking here.
Who knows, but by the time you are finished your degree, you could have your own flourishing online business, and you can work for yourself.
AdSense:
This is another great way to make an extra income, and you simply use your website that you are building out over time. Adsense is run by Google, and they place ads on your site that are related to the topic that you are blogging about. Google then pays you each time somebody views or clicks on the ads.
This model is great if you are getting a lot of traffic to your website, as the more traffic you get, obviously the more you will make.
Google also loves it if you have quality articles on your site that it can place relevant ads on.
There are many other advertising platforms you can also try if AdSense isn’t a good match for you, and you can even advertise to place banners on your website for companies who can pay you rent each month to show their banner in a chosen place on your site.
This obviously only works for you once you are getting a lot of visitors to your site.
Surveys:
This is a great way for students to make some extra cash. The downside is that it takes up quite a bit of time, and if you have a hectic course, you won’t always get to the surveys.
Here you sign up to as many survey sites as you can, and then wait for them to send you emails when there are surveys to take part in.
If you do a survey that you qualify for, you will get paid.
The drawback is sometimes there are no surveys available, and if you are relying on a steady income from this, you may be sorely disappointed.
Remember that when you do surveys you are exchanging your time for money, which isn’t the case if you are doing affiliate marketing because an article you place on your website once can work for you for years to come.
Also, a lot of the Survey sites have a limit set before they pay you out, so you won’t necessarily be paid after each and every survey that you do. If you can wait for your money this is fine.
If you want a more sustainable and interesting way to make an extra income, I would rather use one of the first two models on this page and build out my own website.
Blogging:
Blogging is a great way to make extra cash. You simply blog about your passion, and there are then various ways to make some extra cash from this.
The one way is to place adverts on your site, which pay you when people click them as discussed above.
Another way is to do affiliate marketing on your site. You simply write reviews on products on your site.
Some people make money from letting others do a guest post on their site. The author of the guest blog promotes something of his and he pays you to place his post on your site.
Blogging and building websites go hand in hand when it comes to part time online jobs for college students at home.
MLM Marketing
Here again, you need to be very careful that you choose a reputable company to join, as a lot of them are pyramid schemes that only last a few months.
It is best to sell a product or products when doing this type of marketing. In most cases, you will need to find a downline, and this is the way that you make money, provided of course that your downline does some work.
Some of the more reputable companies of this type are Amway, Avon, SFI, Clixsense and AIOP. At least they are not pyramid schemes where you simply pay cash to join. They actually have tangible products changing hands.
This type of business is hard work and requires some good sales skills. Once you have a downline in place if you don’t keep pushing them, most of the time they give up. The products with MLM companies also tend to be pricey, so they are more difficult to sell.
I only recommend this type of business if you enjoy selling and you have a lot of time on your hands to promote your products.
So I hope this post has given you something to think about when it comes to part time online jobs for college students.
Thanks for sharing these opportunities. I think this is great especially blogging, affiliate marketing and AdSense. They are sure ways to generate extra passive income being a student.
Added to the list on what I have done that I think could also help is Freelance writing as I do that for a living too and it’s a sure way to accumulate income too. Though surveys are good, the pay isn’t always so great. But thank you so much for sharing this piece of helpful information too.
Thanks for the tip, and yes there are many platforms on the net that students can use to get freelance writing work and the better you are at writing, the better the pay gets.
This is a such a great idea for anyone that is currently enrolled in college. Making a little extra money will be a god send to people trying to complete schooling, but yet make some extra cash.
Each option that you have given offers a different commitment level, so they can chose which option they have enough time to participate in.
Great job.
Thanks, Coralie and yes at least it gives students some ideas to make money online without having to invest in expensive start-up costs.
These are some great suggestions for college students to make money part-time. I’ve done some MLM marketing like Avon, and it is a lot of work but I also enjoyed it. It’s a good way to start learning about business ethics and blogging would probably be a great way to support an Avon business or any other business.
I used to wonder how bloggers made money. I like your explanation of Adsense. I wasn’t aware of how exactly that worked. So basically as a college student, I could blog about my college experience and make money through Adsense?
Exactly right Melissa.
Hi,
After reading your article I realized that it was really an informative article. Actually, I’m a student. I’m also want to make money at home. But I’m confused to choose the right platform for making money.
But your article was clear that Wealthy Platform is the best platform for our college students. And it’s really nice. I’m quite sure it’ll take a nice platform in the next generation.
But I have a question for you that” did I need to pay any money for the work for the first time?
You don’t need to pay to start your Website on WA, only if you want further training. You can start working on your website in the meantime though, as that takes time to fill with content.
Thank you for sharing the list of potential ways to make extra money on the side. Affiliate marketing is probably the best way to start a passive income but you have to invest your time and it might take a while for you to make the money. You can also sell your pictures on some of the platforms and get some compensation for that as well. If you live in a town that conducts a focus group that would probably be the best way to make money, watch out for the screening process, lots of question, but it is perfect if you are a full-time student.
I think if you don’t really need to make the money that quick, affiliate marketing is the best way for you to build your financial future but you do have to invest your time in it I guess you can start by blogging first and see if you have audience and you can probably earn a little cash from the Ads on your blog. You might want to get some knowledge first on how to start a blog 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion Nuttanee. Selling photographs is another great way to make a bit of extra money and if you are good at it you should do ok.
To be honest I don’t really know how a college student would be able to find time to run an online business but I guess if they really want to they would be able to besides some of the best social platforms currently existing were created while the owner was still in college and a good example of this is Facebook.
There are a lot of platforms that have a lot of gigs that college students can make money from. For example, there is fiverr and a college student can easily register and accept jobs based on the skills they possess. These can be done part time and they can be able to earn some money from it by performing tasks that would not take too much time to accomplish.
You are right Jay. If they want it bad enough they will make the time. I work full time and also have an online business on the side. It just takes time sacrifices and good planning.
This is a great article filled with some good money making ideas. I have a website at Wealthy Affiliate myself and can vouch for the money-making potential. It does take some work, but if you put in the time, the money will come.
I would be very careful with MLM schemes unless you are very connected and have good sales skills. Big money can be made, but most people will not make significant money.
Dave
You are quite right Dave. MLM takes a lot of work and also following up of people. I far prefer the affiliate marketing model of making an online income.
