When it comes to changing your mindset for success, did you know that your tongue has a lot to do with it?
It’s not only what you think, but also what you say that you need to be aware of.
Here is some food for thought …….
Your words, your dreams, and your thoughts have the power to create conditions in your life.
What you speak about, you can bring about. So you really have to watch that tongue if you are working on changing your mindset for success.
If you keep saying you can’t stand your job, you might just lose your job.
If you keep saying you can’t stand your body, your body could become sick.
If you keep saying you can’t stand your car, your car could be stolen or just stop operating.
If you keep saying you’re broke, guess what? You’ll always be broke.
If you keep saying you can’t trust a man or trust a woman, you will always find someone in your life to hurt and betray you.
If you keep saying you can’t find a job, you will remain unemployed.
If you keep saying you can’t find someone to love you or believe in you, your very thought will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs.
If you keep talking about a divorce or break-up in a relationship, then you might end up with it.
Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power packed with faith, hope, love and action.
Don’t be afraid to BELIEVE that you can have what you want and deserve in life.
Only you can start changing your mindset for success.
Watch your Thoughts, they become words.
Watch your Words, they become actions.
Watch your Actions, they become habits.
Watch your Habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your Destiny.
The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settle for.
Watch how your circumstances and situations begin to change when you change the way you speak and think.
And Remember:
“Life is like melted butter . . . once it cools down, it can be reshaped!”
Changing Your Mindset For Success, Believe in Your Own Potential
While we all have dreams and aspirations, few of us are fully aware of our own potential. This is because it is hard to see the truly good and admirable traits in ourselves, just like it is our faults. However, believing in your own potential is a crucial part of developing your self-confidence and changing your mindset for success.
In order to achieve all, you’re capable of, you have to start by believing in the potential you have. It can help if you are willing to try new things, challenge yourself, and take risks that could all lead to success.
Here are a few ways in which you can determine if you believe in your potential or not.
Spend Time In Self-Reflection
The first way to determine if you believe in your own potential is to spend time in self-reflection.
Ask yourself questions, like what you are capable of and what are your strengths and admirable qualities.
This time spent determining your potential is valuable to who you are as a person and valuable when it comes to changing your mindset for success and achieving your full potential.
During this time, try to focus on the following:
What is your potential?
What do you want to achieve?
Do you truly believe you can achieve it?
What can you do with this potential?
Focusing on these things and answering these questions will help you to identify your potential and believe in it more strongly.
Write Down What You See As Your Full Potential
Now that you’ve had time to reflect on what your potential is, you can list the qualities and skills that entails. This will help you affirm what your potential is and your belief in it. Study this list and keep it with you, being sure to look at it whenever you feel yourself doubting your potential.
This will help you to keep your potential at the forefront of your mind and help you to truly believe in your potential.
Prove Your Potential To Yourself
For some to truly believe in something, they need to see it.
A great way to truly believe in your potential is to prove to yourself you have it. Act on it and challenge yourself by pushing the limits of your potential.
This challenge can be career, hobby, or relationship-oriented, so long as it challenges you and forces you to showcase your full potential.
Once you’ve achieved the goal you set for yourself and fully showcased your potential, you’ll not only have a well-earned sense of accomplishment and confidence but you’ll also fully believe in your potential without doubts.
Surround Yourself With People That Believe In Your Potential
We all like to think we don’t let others affect us, but the reality is that the people around us, especially those close to you, do have an effect on us and our emotions.
If those close to you doubt your potential, you’re likely to do the same. You don’t need that negative influence in your life. Instead, surround yourself with people that believe in your potential and encourage you to achieve all you can.
Their positive influence will provide you with encouragement and help you to see and believe in your potential.
We all have a river of potential inside us, but few people truly recognize and believe in that potential. Believing in your own potential is an essential part of your confidence and success. If you believe you are capable of accomplishing something, you’re far more likely to actually accomplish it.
However, believing in your own potential may not come as easily for you as it does for others. It’s often something we have to work on and prove to ourselves before we believe it.
I sincerely hope that this article has got you thinking and you will get on the road to changing your mindset for success. It all starts by believing in your own potential.
Changing your mindset for success, wow! I really love it… this means you are the product of what you think. If what you think is negative then your actions and everything will be negative because the mind is there to control you for every action.
So it is important to always be positive and also to surround yourself with people who see the greatness in you, not people who will always criticize you whenever a mistake is made … you need people who are on the same mission as you.
Thanks for the comment Nkhosingiphile. It is definitely easier to remain positive if you hang around with a bunch of positive people.
Thank you Michel for this insightful article about achieving success by altering the mindset into a more positive and optimistic one.
I agree, if you keep expecting negative things, they will happen. This is mainly, in my opinion, because you start settling down to these negative results and you, unconsciously, create more atmosphere for them to happen by expecting them and not taking action towards avoiding or overcoming them.
I have suffered from this issue myself for long time trying to blame the situation and the surrounding environment and people for what is happening to me. I failed to realise that it is my mind that works either as my greatest enemy, or as my best friend. It’s up to me to choose what role to give it.
Of course, as you mentioned, having supporting people helps a lot in changing your life to the best.
To some extent, I believe in the quote that says: ” you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most of your time with”. And in order to improve upon yourself and your life, you should always surround yourself with people whom you perceive as being better than you. This will encourage you to increase the quality of your life in order to become the average of these five people.
Thank you again for the amazing article Michel. We all need these reminders every now and then in order to remain on track.

Thanks for the comment Amjad. I totally agree with you that you need to hang out with people who lift you up and avoid the negative ones as far as possible.
Sometimes it is difficult though, especially when it comes to family.
Michel, this is a great post. I am a firm believer in the power of positive thought. My wife has a potentially debilitating condition but, because she always remains so positive and, as you also mentioned, disconnected from the negative people in her life, she is relatively healthy and people who don’t know her would not be aware of her condition.
That is wonderful David and it just goes to show what the power of positive thought and actions can achieve.
Michel, I have always been a believer that our minds control so much more than we realize. Because of this belief it’s important as you say to watch what we say or our verbiage overall Our health is so affected by words especially. May I add that not only words by the volume and tone can affect us too. My life both work and personal has been hurt by poor words as well. I find natural sounds like rain and soft waves help my mind when troubled and stressed.
Great insight in this article. Reading some other information on your website tells me you practice or have experienced these things in your life
Thanks Bill, and yes I do try to think positive, although it is difficult at times, it is something we all need to keep working on.
Agree! Having a positive mindset helps in getting things done. I know from my own experience that when life is against you, it is difficult to achieve anything, as you’re down on yourself and nothing seems to work.
Luckily I’m in a positive state now thanks to some inspiring people that help me stay focussed. One thing I do is listen to audiobooks from inspirational speakers while I’m driving. This actually helps a lot!
I agree Laura. Listening to or reading motivational books each day is a great way to stay positive and train your mindset for success.
Thanks for the comment.
Hello Michel,
I totally enjoyed this article. EVERYONE can use such a motivational article at any time in their day. You are so right – we are what we think in the same token that we are what we eat.
I always – well, most of the times, am very aware of what I think and more importantly before I say it. I know that once it goes out, I can’t take it back, so I tend to be VERY mindful about the things I say…and think about.
I also encourage my 11-yr old daughter to do the same. I figure it is best to give her a jump-start so that her life will be easier and she will realize the power of the spoken word as well as her thoughts.
Keep up the great job.
Namaste
Michelle
Thanks for your comment Michelle, and glad to see you are instilling good values and healthy habits in your daughter.
Our society today unfortunately has put constraints on how we think success should be. Most people think that going to school, university and then finding a 9-5 job is a relative success.
And with the economic crisis to have a stable job is a luxury, thus it makes it even more difficult to get out of this logic.
Of course a lot of people may feel happy with that but most think that we cannot break these boundaries either because we don’t have what it takes or because life doesn’t allow us for various reasons.
Everything starts small and we need to start thinking outside the box and realize that we can do much more than simply following a working routine everyday. Believing in yourself is a hard thing and needs a lot of courage and training to do so.
Well said stratos. Society has a lot to do with it unfortunately.
Hello there,
That’s an amazing article. Sometimes when the going gets tough one needs article like this to bring him back on track. I agree with you totally that every progress or retrogress begins with the mind. I’ve learnt to guard it against negative influence even when I’m the only one going on that road. Thanks for your encouraging words.
It’s not always easy to guard against negative influences, and it takes a lot of will power and self control to stay positive. Especially with all the negativity around us in the world we live in.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Interesting website, I personally agree with what you wrote. So many people focus on what they don’t want and don’t understand why they keep ending up in the same place. Look forward to seeing more posts in the future.
Love to surround myself with positive people when i can and limit the exposure to what I don’t have control over.
Hope you have an awesome day
Thanks for stopping by Sam and you are right as many people do focus on what they don’t want, instead of what they do.
This is is a great wake up call article, I like how you first mentioned the tongue as being the most crucial part of your growth to success. Yes what you say does determine who you are and what you become. If you are always hating then negativity will always follow you.
It is unfortunate that people always depend on what others say about them instead of looking within themselves to find their own inspiration and determine their path to success. Until you encourage yourself, think positive and set your own goals you will not be able to build your own dream.
Thank you for this mind opener, it has really revived my spirit.
Glad to be of help Anita. We often talk about thinking positive, but hardly ever about talking positive.
