If you are an internet marketer and you want to take your campaigns to the next level, then you will at some stage probably have wondered, ‘what is Google Adsense and how does it work?’
If you have done any sort of internet marketing you are more than likely familiar with what Google Adsense is. Google Adsense can be a lucrative venture for some.
If you on the other end of the scale want to try Google Adwords, it can lose you a lot of money if you are not sure what you are doing.
Here is to having a better understanding of what Google Adsense is and how it works. Also what the difference is between Google Adsense and Google Adwords.
What Is Google Adsense And How Does It Work?
I am sure you have all seen those small contextual adverts that are published on some websites that you visit. These are placed there with the consent of the website owner. If you click on those ads, the owner of the website gets paid a commission.
The website owner pays nothing to have the ads on his website, but the advertisers will pay each time somebody clicks on those ads.
With some of the adverts, adversisers will also be paid each time the ad is viewed. So one can also make money if one is getting a lot of traffic.
What Is The Difference Between Google Adsense and Google Adwords?
Google Adsense and Google Adwords run hand in hand. Google Adsense is the practice of letting Google place ads on your website whereas Google Adwords is the opposite. Here you will be creating adverts for Google to place on other peoples websites. So while Google Adsense will pay you, you will need to pay Google to use Google Adwords.
Every time somebody does a search on Google or even on one of their partner networks and clicks on one of the sponsored ads, then the person who created the ad will pay Google a predetermined price. This is where the term “pay per click” or ‘PPC’ comes from.
Why Is Google Adsense A Good Idea?
The beauty of having Adsense on your website is that the person who owns or hosts the website will split the amount of money that Google receives from the publisher of the advert.
Unfortunately, Google guards its secrets well, so I am unable to tell you what the percentage of the split is, and it does vary from ad to ad. The price that the publishers pay for ads is also varied, as the more lucrative a keyword is, the more you will pay for it. The keywords range anywhere from a few cents a click to as much as $50 a click.
I know there are many website owners who make a full time living using Google Adsense on their websites. This is only possible though if the website is getting many thousands of visitors each month. In order to achieve this, the website needs to be full of interesting content and updated with new content on a regular basis.
The great thing about having Adsense on your website is that the ads are relevant to what your website is about. If your website is about shoes, then the ads from Google will also be shoe related. Google also looks at individual pages on the website and relates ads according to the topic of the page. In this way, people will be more likely to click on the ad.
It makes sense for a website owner who is generating a decent amount of traffic to his website to add some Google Adsense onto their sites.
