Imagine having to clock into a job daily that you hate. The work is mundane, the commute is long and your supervisors are careless. Would you enjoy waking up every morning? Let’s look at how to follow your passions and be a happier person.
Unfortunately, while we all have to make money in order to survive, we all deserve to feel fulfilled after completing a hard days work. Sure, we may receive a paycheck at the end of the week, but, does that really make up for all the unhappy and boring hours spent at work? Surely, the answer to that question is a resounding no?
Many blogs, books, and articles are dedicated to helping people find their passions. In fact, the self-help community is worth billions of dollars. This statistic alone proves that people all over the globe are searching for a life of purpose.
Individuals who are unhappy in their jobs are especially susceptible to soaking in as much information as they can on how to improve their life.
How To Follow Your Passions
In order to really live a life of fulfillment and learn how to follow your passions, you need to have a willing attitude, determinations and a positive mindset.
These, along with consistent hard work will help you live a life of passion. Let’s consider how.
Determine Your Passion
Do you even know what your passion is?
If you want to start living a more fulfilled life, you must identify what drives you. Ask yourself, is there an activity that gives you excitement? Do you find yourself daydreaming about a particular field of interest? What motivates you to get up in the morning?
The underlying answers to these questions will help you determine what your passion truly is.
Once you uncover that, you’ll be able to make the necessary steps towards achieving it.
Learn Your Passion
Maybe your passion is to become a chef. Before you blindly pick up the pots and pans, you need to learn your craft. Study from the greats and imitate their actions. Read and soak up as much information as you can on your particular interest choice.
This will help you improve your skills and train you to be the best. Then, you’re more likely to find employment or start a business revolving around your passion. Remember, you can have a dream all you want, but, it takes practice and hard work to turn it into a reality.
Take Steps
After you’ve determined your passion and gathered enough information about the topic, it’s time to put your work to the test. Take the necessary steps towards changing your current position and landing that dream job.
Take up an internship or shadowing job. Perhaps change your resume to reflect your new venture. Then, begin applying for the jobs that’ll get you one step closer to your passion. When you put in the necessary work, it’s imperative that you get out of your comfort zone and really try to find your place. This will help you to lay the foundation for your future career.
Learning how to follow your passions will make you a happier and more fulfilled person. Although we’ve focused primarily on employment, developing your passion doesn’t have to be within a job. If your passion is to be a better artist, person or writer, then follow those dreams even if they’re just for your own personal development.
One of the best pieces of advice one could hear is to do everything with passion. From the smallest gesture to the biggest action, acting with passion will make you stand out in the crowd. In turn, you’ll live a happier, more fulfilled life.
This Is What I Do
I am a dance teacher so my passion is dancing. Obviously, I would like to do this forever, but realistically, once I get too old, how do I keep my passions alive.
I was lucky enough to find the Wealthy Affiliate university. This company teaches you to build a firm sustainable online business based on your passions. I bet you didn’t know that whatever you love to do can be turned into a lucrative business for yourself?
This works wonderfully for me, as I am building my business online around dancing part-time, while also working in my own business of teaching full time. In the meantime, I have also managed to make money using some of my other passions.
So if you want to know how to follow your passions, give Wealthy Affiliate a go. You can try it for free for as long as you like.
Hi Michel,
Awesome post! I think that so many people are struggling to find out what their passion is. I don’t think too many have been lucky enough to find passion in anything throughout their life which is very sad.
They just accept that most things won’t make them feel any joy. Hate to see that.
People that have found their passion really live life differently. They live it on their terms and it shows. I love this. I think this will be super helpful for so many and I’m going to pass it along to others.
Thank you!
Thanks for stopping by to comment Dan.
Well unfortunately I know only too well what it’s like to clock into a job you hate every morning…which is why I’m looking to start some sort of work online (hopefully!).
I am a musician part time and I’m feeling that I could maybe use this as a basis to start up something online. Would this Wealthy Affiliate platform cater and help me with this sort of thing?
Wealthy Affiliate will help you to realize your dreams in whatever field you want. It is based on building an online business around your choice of subject, and then also selling products related to your subject. This is called affiliate marketing, and you can even end up selling your own products in this way.
You will, however, need to work quite hard at it, especially in the first year to get it off the ground.
Hi there.
Thank you for this enlightenment and motivation. There is no better way to enjoy this life that to follow your passion in doing what you love that you will be glad doing even if you are not getting paid. I actually left my clerk job to start learning how to start analysing football and talk it on the radio. It has been giving me so much joy ever since. Thank you for this inspiration
I am glad to see that you are living and breathing your passions. It must have been scary at first to give up your full-time income though?
HI Michel,
I enjoyed reading your article about living a happier life.
I think so often we get caught up in the necessities of life that we forget to dream about our passions, and what we would love to do if we didn’t’ have to worry about money.
But you have provided some great tips on how to start a hobby or passion while still working and providing, but which also has the possibility of becoming a successful business.
Some great advice, thank you.
Debs
Thanks Debbie, and there is nothing worse than letting life pass you by without getting the time you need to find and enjoy your passions.
