The best thing about doing affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to worry about a lack of products to sell.
Products online are in abundance to sell, but how to find products to sell online is another story.
Also, how to find the best products to sell online requires a bit of know how.
How To Find Products To Sell Online
Remember that not all the products that you find online to sell will actually sell.
If you pick a product that doesn’t bring in profits, then it would be a waste of time, energy and money, especially if paid advertising is involved.
Therefore, it is imperative that you choose the best products to sell. So let’s look at how to find products to sell online and also make sure they will actually sell.
If you are skilled and efficient enough, you’ll play a bigger role than the product vendor in generating sales! Vendors depend on their affiliates to bring in the buyers. So it’s normally a win-win situation.
But you might be wondering; how do you define a wrong product? Or in other words, what is the definition of a good product?
If you have affiliate accounts with Clickbank, Amazon or JVZoo, you need to head to featured products, or in Amazon’s case best-selling products.
With Clickbank, you can look at the gravity of the individual products. The higher the number, the more products are being sold.
Let’s use JVZoo as an example here. Go and view the top picks for the past month and you will notice that on the right-hand side of the page, you can choose to ‘See More…’ where there is a month’s list starting from the current month to the previous months. Simply click on the month you want to view and it will bring you to the featured products of your selected month.
That is how you start studying the kinds of products your potential vendors are selling out there. The number of sales they are making, the types of product they are selling and the commission’s affiliates can earn from promoting them.
Try using a spreadsheet that you have and categorize the products. Personally, I would recommend you to start by separating them according to the month of the product launch. Followed by their name, type of product and earnings.
Eventually, it is up to you to measure each product in the simplest way. Because at the end of the day, you need to conclude your studies by highlighting the products that work best. You will notice that some products are selling more than others even if they are in the same category.
Never just pick random products without going through all these steps. Take note of the commissions offered, which products are selling like hot cakes and which products are hardly moving off the shelves.
As a Super Affiliate, you need to constantly be up to date with what is currently working for your audience and what they are inclined to purchase. Do not simply settle for what you assume works best when it comes down to how to find products to sell online.
For example, there were times when Private Label Rights (PLR) products were selling well with huge commissions. But in today’s market, it’s much more competitive and it is getting hard for affiliates to make huge sales by selling PLR.
The Best Product Characteristics
“So, I’ve done my spreadsheet and analyzed all the 6 months featured products and I found out some have good earnings and some don’t. How am I supposed to know the best one to promote?”
What I’m about to share are my criteria for the best products to sell.
First!
Choose the product with the most rewarding commission. I would advise to not go for anything less than 50 percent commission. This is not always possible, but unless you are going to sell a lot of them without too much stress, they are simply not worth the time and effort. JVZoo and ClickBank offer these types of commissions.
Second!
Digital products are still selling a lot better than physical products are online.
With physical products, most people would rather go to a store close to them and not have to pay the shipping fees, unless it is something only available online.
With digital products, the customer can download the product instantly and there is no waiting or shipping fee involved.
Physical products seldom have 50 percent commission, unfortunately. So your earnings will be less for the same amount of work.
Third!
Keep your eyes open to see if there is an ‘Upsell’ that comes with the product you are promoting. This is like an extra offer after your customer has bought the item you promoted, and it could mean some extra commission for you.
For example, when you go to McDonald’s and you order a set meal, the cashier will ask you, ‘Would like extra fries? It only costs another dollar.” This method allows McDonald’s to increase their revenue. If the vendor provides an upsell, it is going to be highly profitable because you’ll be able to gain more commission!
Just make sure the product you are promoting and the upsell are both worthwhile and valuable. If you wouldn’t buy it, then why would to promote it to others?
Fourth!
Sometimes you can find products to promote that have recurring commissions. These are great options to promote because you get repeat business from doing the work once.
A good example of this is Wealthy Affiliate. The fees are recurring and most of the people who join (like myself) stay there for years and years, meaning that you could be earning recurring commissions for years to come.
These are the best types of products to promote.
Fifth!
How long will it take before you get paid? Lots of vendors will pay you instantly, but others will make you wait until you reach a threshold before they pay out.
Many vendors make you wait in case the customer asks for a refund, in which case your commission would not be paid to you or you would need to pay it back.
You need to work out for yourself how soon you would need to be paid.
Sixth!
What is the demand for the product, because if the products are in demand, they will obviously sell better.
So once again it comes down to looking at best-selling products and perhaps doing both some market and some keyword research.
It definitely pays to do your homework when it comes to how to sell products online.
Make sure that you read the small print in the Affiliate details section as well as in the salespage, as it is worth the extra time spent when you find something exceptional to sell.
The Best Ways To Sell Products
Now that you know how to find products to sell online, it is time to actually sell them. You need to get your customers to pull out their credit cards and want to own what you have to offer.
The best way to sell products online is to write review articles about them.
You need to focus on the features of the product and more importantly the benefits.
Talk about how the product in question will help your customers with problems that they have.
Ask the product vendor for as much information on the product as he is wiling to provide.
Some Vendors may even offer you full access to the product for the benefit of your review.
The important thing here is to learn as much about the product in question before writing your review and the best way to do this is to have used the product yourself or even already own it.
Don’t be scared to write about both the pros and the cons of the product. Remember that no product is 100 percent perfect and by telling your potential customers the downside they will trust you more as you are not only telling them good things to make them buy from you.
You will obviously need your own website so that you have the freedom to express yourself and write your reviews. If you haven’t got one already, or don’t know where to start, then I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate to get you started.
