How To Write A Review Article
Step 1:
Before you even think of how to write a review article, you need to find a great product to write about.
Obviously, you can also write about a bad product and refer your readers to an alternative and better choice too.
Preferably review a product that you have used or had some experience with, and in this way, you will be more convincing to your readers.
Be honest and give all the pros and cons of the product.
Step 2:
The main key on how to write a review article is to just keep it simple to understand.
Some marketers keep it within 300 to 500 words, as it is hard to keep the attention span of your readers.
But I think if you can write a detailed article of about 1000 words, you will get the attention of the search engines, and thus get more visitors. Write in detail, but don’t waffle just to get the word count up. Get to the point and answer any questions your readers may have.
Step 3:
Write it in conversational form – a “me-to-you message”. You don’t have to be formal, rather make it more personal and friendly.
What’s more, there are only two important points you should write for a review article – the pros and cons of the product. Be concise and straight to the point. The benefits the customer will get from the product should be well highlighted.
Step 4:
Photo’s or screenshots of the products always make a better review experience. Customers like to see just what they are getting.
For physical products, you can show different angles and measurements of the product.
A picture of somebody using the product also says a thousand words.
Step 5:
Insert a promotional video in your article. If you do your own, you can upload it to YouTube to get a permanent link in case you need to use it for other related promotional sites. Otherwise, there is bound to be video’s on YouTube that you can embed showing how the product is used.
Step 6:
WordPress is the easiest way to go on how to do a product review. You don’t need any programming knowledge to utilize WordPress. I mean, even a novice can create a good site and article review using WordPress and its existing layout. All affiliate marketers should have a website set up in order to write their reviews.
If you need to start a website for this purpose, you can get started for free right here.
Step 6:
If you are doing a review of a product you will need to do some keyword research. If you don’t, how will you know what your potential customers are looking for in the product you are reviewing and what type of questions they are asking?
For instance, if you are writing a review on an Apple 6 iPhone, people will be online asking questions about it, and you need to find out what they are.
I used the Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool and came up with the following list of questions that people were asking each month.
- does iPhone 6 have wireless charging – 76 searches per month
- iPhone 6 camera megapixels – 160 searches per month
- does iPhone 6 have Siri – 160 searches per month
- iPhone 6 by online – 90 searches per month
- what features does iPhone 6 have – 24 searches a month
- iPhone 6 – 432030 searches per month
- apple iPhone 6s – 3838 searches per month
Using these keywords within your review of the phone will answer peoples questions. Remember though the keywords with the most searches have generally got the most competition, so it is better to target the lesser keyword phrases with less competition. Jaaxy will tell you which keywords are good ones to target which helps a lot.
Remember to use the keyword of your choice at least 0,5 percent of the time within your review. There is nothing stopping you from using more competitive keywords within your article a couple of times.
Step 7:
When you are finished writing your review, read through it, check it and ask yourself the following questions:
- Is it captivating?
- Is it informative?
- Is it accurate?
- Have you given your opinion?
- Do you have a call to action?
- Have you got links to the product you are reviewing?
Step 8:
When writing your review, keep it easy to read. Use short paragraphs, a clear and easy font to read and plain black writing on a white background works best, as it is more comfortable for your readers to see.
