If you want to know the secrets of how to be successful in an online business like the one I have going here, it’s not rocket science.

Believe it or not, it has nothing to do with salesmanship or even having a knowledge of your companies services or products, although this is also important.

There are some far more basic principles like your mindset, which will determine your success rate or failure at anything you do in life.

They are your A, B, and C, Attitude, Belief, and Consistency.

Let’s take a look at them in reverse order.

How To Be Successful In An Online Business


We get up every morning, we brush our teeth, we wash, we get dressed and have breakfast.  Because these are our habits, we are thus consistent in our actions. We are programmed to do these things as we have been doing them all our lives.

We need to do the same in being consistent with our tasks associated with our online business.

Decide how many hours you are going to devote to your online business, set time aside and be consistent with your working hours.

I use this software to keep me consistent and moving towards my goals on a daily basis, as it is difficult at first to set this time aside and actually make sure that you are working on growing your online business daily.

We need to concentrate on the actions, not on the result. I’ll repeat that, we need to concentrate on the actions, not on the results.

When we go mountain climbing, if we look continually at how far the summit still is, we would soon trip up, fall and give up. We need to concentrate on every step we do one at a time, and as surely as the sun goes down we will reach our summit.

This is done through consistent action, and it is this consistency that gets us closer to our goals when it comes down to how to be successful in an online business.


An absolute and genuine belief in yourself, your business, it’s products and services and what it can give your customers is essential.

This is all part of your mindset. You need to believe that you can do this no matter what it takes.

You should have your goals set in place, and daily actions set out on how you are going to eventually achieve those goals.

Each day you should be doing actions that are moving you closer to your goal of having your own online business. Believe me, sitting on FaceBook all day is not going to do this for you.

While you are performing these actions, as well as learning new skills, you must have a consistent belief in yourself that you will succeed.


Attitude is possibly the most important criteria of these three but it’s useless on its own.

It’s no good having the best attitude in the world if you are not willing to put consistency and belief in yourself in there somewhere.

So what is attitude apart from how one feels about oneself and others? I describe it like this.

We all know that the first thing any salesperson has to sell is themselves even before they open their mouth. If they can’t sell themselves they might as well turn round and go home and go back to bed. 

Another description of attitude is when you go and watch a good show.

What makes it even more enjoyable is if the performers are enjoying themselves. Most of the time they are loving every minute of what they are doing and they give you their all.

This attitude makes the show more enjoyable for all.

So when we get up in the morning, have a positive attitude. Be excited for the day ahead, and you can only do this if you love what you are doing.

Feeling good about ourselves as we go about our business gives the people we associate with a good feeling.

So those are the three special ingredients that determine how to be successful in an online business.
