How To Surround Yourself With Like Minded People

How to surround yourself with like minded people

It is super important to learn how to surround yourself with like minded people because this can either fast forward or hinder you in life. Although this may seem like a small thing to most, it is actually very important when it comes to your success.

One sure way to hinder your own achievement and life satisfaction is to spend time with the wrong people.

‘Happy people have two things in common. They know exactly what they want and they feel they are moving toward getting it.’

Having direction makes life feel good, as you are moving forward with purpose.

By wrong people, I don’t mean bad people – just people who may be negative, not aligned with your values, and who attempt to drag you down into their drama.  It is important to try and spend time with the right people!

It is your choice who you spend time with. You get to choose for yourself which people you spend time with.

How many times have you said yes to seeing someone who doesn’t make you feel great about who you are and where you are heading in life? Or have you ever gone somewhere and regretted that you went – because you know there are much better ways to spend your time?

Some people can deplete us, drain us of precious time, energy, and positivity and distract us from what we value. It doesn’t mean we never see these people (which can be hard when some of them are family!) but we can learn how to keep them at “arm’s length.”

When you feel the drain happening, be strong, focus on your values and intentions, and have the courage to say no. Walk away from negative conversations, don’t gossip. Introduce upbeat topics when possible – it may not always work but often it will.

Being with the right people can be such a cherished and unforgettable part of our life journey. These people can inspire us to great achievements, give us insight, and fill our lives with excitement and energy.

Why Do We Need Positive People In Our Lives?

There are many reasons, but here are five that stand out:

  • You will have better relationships and feel better about life in general.
  • You will feel great. If you are in an upbeat crowd you feel upbeat. If you are amongst yawners, you also want to yawn. It makes sense.
  • You will have more energy, and negative people tend to drain your energy.
  • You will have a better life experience in general if you mix with the right crowd.
  • And most importantly, you will reach your potential, as positive people will egg you on and encourage you to do better.

So where are these right people? The answer may be in these wise words from Will Smith: “Don’t chase people. Be yourself, do your own thing, and work hard. The right people….the ones who really belong in your life will come to you. And stay.”

Believe In Yourself

If you don’t believe in yourself, then you will attract others who don’t believe in themselves either. Accept yourself for who you are. Think about all your strengths, talents, and attributes, and be kind to yourself every day. Use positive self-talk because when you believe in yourself you will attract others who are like-minded.

Remember That Like Attracts Like

In case you didn’t know this, like attracts like is a universal law.

To attract positive experiences into your life you need to be positive about yourself and appreciate life lessons learned in the past.

When you are in a positive mindset you will attract like-minded people to you.

Embrace the relationships that empower, motivate, and inspire you to be your best.

Make it a habit to also celebrate others’ success as well as your own. The more you stay focused on staying positive, the more positive people you will attract into your life.

And lastly,

Forgive Freely

Never hold onto resentment as this is negative energy. It is just as important to forgive yourself for the mistakes that you make as it is to forgive others.

Realize that all things happen for a reason as each life experience has helped you become who you are today. We all stumble and fall and have failures, but it’s through these failures that we learn and grow.

Learn from the past and let the negative memories go.

The more you forgive, the more you attract supportive people into your life.

You are most likely to attract the right people into your life by first being true to you. So in your quest to learn how to surround yourself like minded people, work on yourself each and every day.

Let’s toast to the power of positive thinking.

  4. I absolutely love this article. While I have been practicing and cultivating myself to be positive, a few negative things seem to have happened in my circles that makes me feel negative.

Trying to shake that away, and reading your article has uplifted my spirit. Be me, do not compare with others, and like attracts like. Maintaining positivity will drive away from the negative things. Remember the good things, forget the bad things!
