how to invest in yourself

In this article, I am going to discuss ways on how to invest in yourself.

First of all, you may wonder why you even need to know how to invest in yourself, and the answer is clear. If you invest in yourself, you do activities that will prepare you for a more successful future. Now, who doesn’t want that for themselves?

Making an investment in yourself is showing yourself self-love and these types of investments are usually the most profitable types of investments.

If you put an effort into continually investing in yourself, imagine what the quality of your life is going to be like, both now and in the future.

These are the main ways how you can invest in yourself:

  • Build knowledge
  • Build relationships
  • Build a strong financial foundation
  • Build your spirituality
  • Build healthy habits

How To Invest In Yourself

The best investment you can make is in yourself. Let’s look at ways that you can invest in yourself to make your life infinitely better tomorrow than it is today.

Read, Read And Read Some More

Books give you power and knowledge, as well as release creative juices which are a great thing especially if you are stressed or depressed.

Millionaires and successful business owners all over the world say they read daily and keep learning. If you don’t have time to read each day, try an audiobook that you can listen to as you go about your daily chores. There are no excuses not to learn each day through this wonderful medium.

Read not only recreational books but educational books too. Books or audio books are an awesome resource to build your knowledge and expertise in any area.

Never Stop Learning

I am sure you have heard the saying that you are never too old to learn something new. You should spend your life continually learning new things because when we stop learning, we stop growing.

Even as you age it is important to keep your brain active, and in this way, you will age more gracefully.

Invest In Creativity

Invest some time and effort into your creativity. Our creativity doesn’t have to diminish as we get older. In fact, it is believed that the peak of creativity in most people is around 30-40 years old. (Lindaur, 1998, Marisiske &Willis;, 1998).

Being creative can be the catalyst in the manifestation of continual learning and lifelong activity. It allows us to be inspired, have fun and appreciate the beauty in the world. You may also be pleasantly surprised by what you are capable of making and achieving.

Stay Debt Free

Become the boss of your own money.

There is nothing worse than spending your life paying off debts. It is like a downward spiral, and it is impossible to build wealth if you are continually paying out more and more interest.

Learn to save something each month no matter what and don’t try to live beyond your means. Pay cash for everything that you can except perhaps your home and car.

Invest In Your Future

Each and every day you can do something small to invest in your future. Whether it is learning something new, building out a business, writing a book or even exercising to keep your body healthy well into old age.

Give Yourself Permission To Take A Break

You are allowed to take a break. Take a walk in the sunshine, make a nice cup of herbal tea and drink it outside, go for a walk on the beach. All these things will energise you and help you concentrate better when you get back into working mode.

Invest In Your Self Confidence

Invest in building your self-confidence. People who know their value, have something to say and others will listen. You can invest in yourself by developing an understanding of the value that you possess and can offer others.

Learn to have the courage to speak in front of others. You can try joining a public speaking group to get over your fear of expressing yourself in front of others.

The more you believe in yourself, the more confident you will become in sharing it with others.

Insure Yourself

It is very important to insure yourself. You never know what is going to happen to you tomorrow. You need to have a backup plan if things go pear-shaped. invest in yourself

Insuring yourself also creates peace of mind.

Find a Coach Or Mentor

Whether you are starting a new online business, or simply want to get healthier, it is important to find someone to coach or mentor you. People who do this have a far greater success rate than those who try to go it alone.

If you can’t afford this, try following people who you want to be like. There are many opportunities to do this now with the internet, and there are many experts in many fields that you can follow, like, listen to their podcasts, etc, it’s endless.

I find through personal experience that if you have someone you are accountable to for your actions, it makes you work just that much harder to achieve your goals.

Create Multiple Income Streams For Yourself

Over time it is a good idea to build or create multiple income streams for yourself. It is no longer wise to just trust that your job will pay you each month, as there are many companies closing down and retrenching at the moment, so working for somebody is never 100 percent safe long term.

The sooner you start to save in life, the better. Once you have a nest egg you can invest it so that it starts to generate interest. This is one form of income stream you can create for yourself. Get advice from a financial planner if you have money to invest and you will get better advice on how to make it grow faster long term.

You can also start your own business on the side, just as I have, and this will also be an income stream for you each month. If you want to see how I created my own online business, you can read this. If you want to see an example of one of my income streams, click here. I have turned one of my hobbies into a small online business.

Go On Holiday

This is something a lot of us neglect to do, but we all need to get away from time to time to recharge our batteries. Ideally, this should happen at least once a year for at least a week, or if you can’t do this make a few small weekend getaways over the year.how to invest in yourself

Going away gives you perspective, and you will come home feeling renewed and ready to take on the world.

I have a separate savings account that I save for holidays in, otherwise I know that it will just never happen.

Final Words

So at this point, you should not be wondering how to invest in yourself anymore. You have ample ways to make a difference in your life above, so go out and get to it.

Find something on this list and aim to start implementing at least one into your life every week. Eventually, they will become habits that you do automatically. Just keep working on them and investing in yourself.
